When I was in high school in the late seventies people where fixing up work vans (that’s all there was at the time). Painting them up with wild murals, putting carpeting, beds and refrigerators in them.

There where many magazines that showed many different custom conversions. The paint jobs really caught my eye. I began airbrushing in art class between projects. My dad was a sign painter and he had one even though I never seen him use it and I started practicing at home also.

I painted a few of my vehicles, wide band stripes with patterns in them, flames and murals. Vans began to be done by shops that converted them in production. Then the manufacturers started making conversion vans. They lost their individuality.
