In fact, as of 2010 in the state of California, there were only five thousand acres of Cabernet Franc vines currently planted. In Bordeaux, where the grape makes it’s ancestral home, things aren’t much better. French winemakers think of Cabernet Franc as strictly a blending grape and nothing more.
